This practical developer-to-developer seminar will focus on case studies of projects that gained sufficient local support to get built – and other projects stalled by organized opposition. Breakout sessions will allow for peer-to-peer feedback on verbal and visual communication; bring your best stories and community education materials. We’ll also examine the roots of opposition, and steps that researchers and skilled practitioners say can be decisive when introducing communities to wind energy. Aaron Young of the National Journal Leadership Council will keynote on first-person testimonials and “advocate profiling” techniques used by the National Federation of Independent Business and others. AWEA and WEF will update the group on industry-wide tools, and take requests for further joint resources to help gain public acceptance.
