 Press Releases

  • In line with its policy of continued investment in R&D and ongoing product improvement, CNIguard is delighted to announce that its Manitor Manhole Monitoring System (MMS) - which is already successfully deployed as SX1.0 - has been updated, released and is now being delivered with significant additional functionality.

The latest SX1.5 release expands on the previous first generation product to include several new capabilities:

    • DC input for mains power
    • Expanded batteries for extended life
    • Stray voltage sensor
    • Additional gas sensor
    • IR (infrared) camera for heat signature detection
    • Enriched analytics at the edge
    • Enhanced dashboard to optimize inspections, alert generation, and reports

“Manitor MMS is an end to end solution with multi sector application including electricity, gas, water, telecoms and transport infrastructure. We have, therefore, developed Manitor as feature rich from the outset, and SX1.5 represents a significant enhancement,” said CNIguard’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Edward Klinger.

“We’re heading into an exciting phase where we’ll have around 10,000 deployed Manitor units preventing real incidents and proving ROI via predictive maintenance. We are exponentially amassing data from underground networks enabling our end users, for the first time, to see and understand what’s going on in their infrastructure - perpetually and in real-time. Enabled benefits are also created whereby the data from Manitor installed in electrical manholes, for example, can optimize the operations of the transit or sanitation departments. Our hosting and monitoring service underpins this data fusion platform and  informs our solution roadmap,” he concluded.

CNIguard will be showcasing Manitor SX1.5 on Booth #3512 at IEEE PES T&D 2018.

The next generation SX2.0 is scheduled for release in Q2 2018 with even more features, including a visual camera, ground temperature, and salinity, together with power harvesting capabilities.

  • MANITOR - Manhole Monitoring System.
MANITOR, our Manhole Monitoring System mitigates the risks from stray/contact voltage and exploding covers as well as securing manholes, boxes, chambers, vaults, cabinets, kiosks and bunkers from intrusion, theft and vandalism....

  • The Problem

Degraded power lines are a major cause of exploding manholes and stray voltage. In New York City alone hundreds of manholes explode each year. In addition, stray voltage electrifies manhole covers and other street furniture – traffic signals, bus shelters, mail boxes – that can cause injury and death.

Other problems include sewer overflow, discharge or unexpected release. Security related issues include theft, tampering and terrorism linked to manhole and other subsurface structures.

    The Solution

MANITOR, our Manhole Monitoring System mitigates the risks from stray/contact voltage and exploding covers as well as securing manholes, boxes, chambers, vaults, cabinets, kiosks and bunkers from intrusion, theft and vandalism. In addition to security, the built-in SENSORCORE® platform can enable flood warning and other safety, environmental and quality monitoring.

MANITOR utilizes a range of commercially available, off-the-shelf sensors to detect and prevent manhole related incidents. Signals are transmitted securely from the embedded device to a dashboard on a phone, laptop or other platform. Over-the-Air updates ensure the firmware is current as well as enabling customization of the devices. False alarms are minimized by incorporating multiple sensors and technology-based sequential verification that removes or reduces human operator fallibility in interpreting a potential alarm.

  • OVERLINE-Over Head Line Monitoring System (OHLMS)
OVERLINE, our Overhead Line Monitoring System (OHLMS) monitors the integrity of overhead conductors and poles used to distribute electricity....

  • The Problem

Almost every aspect of production requires electricity. Electricity is also necessary to produce other forms of energy. If a widespread or long-term disruption of the power grid were to occur, many of the activities critical to the economy and national defense would be impossible.

High voltage conductor cables may sag within reach of the public or general infrastructure due to faulty, aged or broken insulators or fixtures. Rotten or damaged poles may also allow cables to sag, remaining live and presenting serious and potentially fatal danger to the public. Gale force or high winds and inclement weather can also adversely affect overhead power lines.

    The Solution

OVERLINE, our Overhead Line Monitoring System (OHLMS) monitors the integrity of overhead conductors and poles used to distribute electricity. Scalable across vast distances, the OHLMS reduces exposure of both public and operators to danger, while improving standards of distribution performance with a faster response to attend site.

OVERLINE will alert line sag beyond the safe limit, pole tilt beyond acceptable limits, line detachment, deflection of line due to contact by machinery such as a cherry picker or crane, or deflection of the line due to contact with trees or branches.
