Tio Pelon’s Salsita was born in late 2015 out of Oscar's (AKA Tio's) 90 square foot apartment kitchen while learning how to process an abundance of homegrown veggies that were on the verge of going bad. He resorted to a family recipe that he knew needed to be shared with the world. True Salsitas Norteñas Mexicanas (North Mexican Salsas) straight from the ranch kitchen of Abuela Emma’s.
‘Tio Pelon’, which translates into “Uncle Baldy”, became the playful brand name after Tio's first niece was born in mid 2015. Our focus is to produce extraordinary quality, to be authentic and one of a kind, and create delicious products for consumers from coast to coast.
Tio Pelon come's from McAllen, Texas where BBQs, or as we call them “carnitas asadas” are a weekly family event. We eat, tell stories, dance and normally have a great time! One of the most important elements of Carnitas Asadas (aside from the meat of course) are the salsitas that accompany the delicious taquitos of grilled meats.
Our instantly recognizable brand, puts a smile on people's faces every time they taste them. That us why we share our North Mexican heritage and share about the delicious food of our region has to offer.
