Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) is an independent foundation incorporated in Belgium accountable to the public and the patients it serves. Its mission is to improve the care and outcomes of kidney disease patients worldwide through the development and implementation of global clinical practice guidelines. KDIGO has published 12 clinical practice guidelines to date. New guidelines are under development and guideline update projects are currently underway as well. KDIGO also has a Global Network of more than 5000 prominent volunteers from around the world. They serve on Guideline Work Groups, Controversies Conference Steering Committees, and its governing body, the KDIGO Executive Committee.
