2023 is the start of an exciting time for nonprofits interested in solar arrays
With the passing of the Inflation Reduction Act, nonprofit organizations, including schools, can now take advantage of direct pay rebates when they install solar arrays on their property. Visit the Solar School Pavilion (Booth 125) during this year’s WASB Conference, to learn about all the curriculum, funding options and advice available to your school.

Couillard Solar Foundation
The Couillard Solar Foundation helps schools acquire solar arrays through grants of up to half the solar panels needed for their project. We do this through the Solar on Schools program. We also offer the CSF Solar Canopy as a way to build a unique and functional outdoor classroom.
Solar on Schools
Administered by the MREA (Midwest Renewable Energy Association) the Solar on Schools program provides grants to school districts who want to install solar in their districts. Solar on Schools was developed to provide a range of resources to Wisconsin schools, assisting with and simplifying the solar project development process. The program aims to help Wisconsin schools realize the financial, educational, and community benefits of going solar. Wisconsin schools are going solar.
KEEP, Wisconsin’ K-12 Energy Education Program
Operating out of UW-Stevens Point, the Wisconsin K-12 Energy Education Program (KEEP) was created to promote energy education in Wisconsin schools. KEEP leverages teacher education to improve and increase energy literacy in Wisconsin’s K-12 schools as a means of contributing to statewide energy savings. The program provides curriculum resources and teacher training.
LEAF, Wisconsin’s K-12 Forestry Education Program
LEAF provides professional development to thousands of Wisconsin’s teachers, curriculum to hundreds of thousands of Wisconsin students, and has registered over 27,000 acres of school forest land, many of them including solar arrays. LEAF connects formal and non-formal educators in Wisconsin with quality forestry education materials.

Green & Healthy Schools Wisconsin
Green & Healthy Schools Wisconsin connects, cultivates, and celebrates schools for nurturing healthy kids and sustainable communities. Public and private PK*-12 schools report achievements through an annual survey each fall and receive recognition as a Sprout, Seedling, Sapling, or a Sugar Maple School based on cumulative results. Green & Healthy Schools Wisconsin is administered by the Wisconsin Departments of Natural Resources and Public Instruction and supported by partners across the state.
Green & Healthy Schools Consortium of Milwaukee
With over 1300 motivated individuals and partners representing school staff, students, parents, nonprofits, governmental agencies, and funders participating in this network, the GSCM has organized many transformational schoolyard redevelopment projects and continues to promote sustainability projects in Milwaukee-area schools that result in improved environmental, social, and economic outcomes and greater ecoliteracy among students, families, educators, and the community.
Reflo
As a nonprofit organization, Reflo’s mission is to catalyze sustainable water use, green infrastructure, and equitable water resource management that support triple-bottom-line outcomes that are grounded in strong partner relationships. They accomplish their objectives through education, research, and the implementation of water projects that are valuable for individuals, local communities, and the organizations that support them. They are proud of their five program areas including Green & Healthy Schools, Innovative Placemaking, Milwaukee Water Stories, Environmental Internships and Rainwater Harvesting for Urban Agriculture.
Walnut Way Conservation Corp
The Walnut Way Conservation Corp works in the heart of the 110-block Lindsay Heights neighborhood on Milwaukee’s near-Northside from Walnut to Locust Street and I-43 to 20th Street. Home to over 2,700 families, Lindsay Heights is a vibrant African American community building on its assets to face complex challenges. We are deeply committed to sustaining economically diverse and abundant communities through civic engagement, environmental stewardship, and creating venues for prosperity. Walnut Way offers a variety of programs including a solar jobs training program for eligible participants.

Wisconsin Energy Institute
The Wisconsin Energy Institute (WEI) is working on one of the most critical challenges of our time – the transition toward new, clean energy systems and solutions. WEI is led by scientists and engineers committed to crossing traditional research boundaries in order to make major breakthroughs in the way we source and use energy. The collaborative home of energy research and education at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, WEI fosters projects across disciplines, prepares the energy leaders of today and tomorrow, and enhances public understanding of energy issues.
