Welcome to the American Academy of Pediatrics 2009 National Conference & Exhibition (NCE). It is especially fitting that pediatricians united in our nation’s capital, October 17-20, as health care has been front and center on the legislative agenda and we have been focusing on the health of children and the medical professionals providing care for them. We hope you enjoyed your time in educational sessions and on the exhibit floor showcasing the latest pediatric products, resources and technology especially in the NEW ATTRACTIONS we’ve added to the AAP Resource Center including an AAP Theatre with live demonstrations, conversational opportunities with AAP’s leading topic experts in our “meet the NCE faculty ” area, author signings, AAP raffles and giveaways, and free medical screenings performed by members of the AAP Section on Internal Medicine-Pediatrics, who celebrated their 40th year as a specialty. An especially innovative addition to the world’s largest pediatric exhibit floor, “Pediatric Office of the Future,” allowed attendees to explore a variety of software, hardware and other cutting-edge technologies. This unique exhibit is was the opportunity for a first-hand glimpse into enhancing office efficiency and improving patient care. Thank you for joining me in opening ceremonies where we celebrated YOU…the every day “Pediatric Hero.”
