Individuals with autism and other disabilities often experience sensory processing difficulties. Sensory processing refers to the way your brain processes information from the senses and then responds to that information. Those with sensory sensitivity may experience sensory overload and react strongly to loud noises, bright lights or new smells. Others may have an under-reaction or emotional withdrawal from a situation.
