Capsoil Opportunity
Capsoil’s nanometric powder will be used to develop the next generation of skin care products enabling unprecedented bioavailability and absorption capabilities. Retinol and Hyaluronic acid are important examples.
Retinol is the gold standard in skincare. It is a lipophilic molecule derived from Vitamin A which helps to speed up healing, supports the skin’s immune system and promotes natural moisturizing – which means it helps to hydrate the skin effectively, giving it a radiant glow. It also assists in promoting and maintaining a healthy dermis and epidermis; the top two layers of the skin. Retinol signals to the skin that it should increase its replacement rate creating a peeling effect which in turn creates rejuvenation of the skin.
The Capsoil technology can be used to produce Retinol with enhanced absorption and deeper penetration of the skin, giving a much-improved effect. These benefits also result in lower raw material costs as less is needed to achieve the same results.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a sugar found naturally in our skin that holds water and helps keep it hydrated and plump meaning it is not saggy or tired-looking. Fine lines and wrinkles are filled in and the skin has a “glow”. The HA within our bodies holds a thousand times its weight in water to not only retain the moisture in our skin and joints but also prevent it from evaporating into the air. Just like collagen and elastin, the amount of naturally occurring HA in our bodies decreases as we get older. When used in skin care products like creams and serums, hyaluronic acid brings moisture to the surface of the skin and is widely used, especially in anti-aging.
Hyaluronic acid is a polar system. It works well with most other ingredients and can be paired with peels, retinol, vitamins, and other acids. However, many anti-aging treatments are based on lipophilic molecules and there is the opportunity to use Capsoil’s nanometric powder technology to combine HA with additional ingredients to produce a new super treatment with unprecedented capabilities for the anti-aging market.
