Impact of Renewable Energy on T&D Planning and Operations

  • Room: Rm 284
  • Session Number: PN01
Tuesday, April 26, 2022: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Description

As more renewable generation is integrated into the electric power grid and legacy generating units are retired, utilities are faced with a major challenge of reevaluating their planning and operating processes. Key strategic changes have to occur in the way utilities design and plan their transmission and distribution systems in order to maintain security, resilience, reliability, and stability of the electric power systems. This panel session will discuss issues, challenges and strategic changes that are taking place in the electric utility industry in the planning and operations area and provide vision and perspectives of the industry leaders and experts on how to address these complex issues.

Corporate Engagement Program (CEP) was put together to understand and address the changing needs of the electric utility industry and provide technical knowledge and guidance. The electric utility decarbonization policy is one of such challenges which falls under the umbrella of CEP.
