US-based Virginia Transformer Corporation will be opening its fifth state-of-the-art power transformer manufacturing plant in Chihuahua, MX this year
Roanoke, Va. (Date April, 26, 2022) – In its 50-year history, Roanoke, VA based Virginia Transformer Corporation (VTC) has gone from producing small power transformers in 1980’s to become the largest United States based power transformer OEM, with the largest engineering team in the industry, a 1,800-person team, and with the new addition - 5 transformer manufacturing plants in North America.
To support its continued and accelerating growth, VTC is building a 2nd, 300,000 square foot transformer manufacturing facility in Chihuahua, MX. This plant will incorporate best-in-class design, manufacturing technology and assembly automation and will manufacture small-power, E2X Series oil filled and Dry Type transformers for renewable, Bitcoin, Datacenters, EV Charging, and Utility markets; and medium power transformers up to 100 MVA, 230 kV for utility, Industrial and Renewable markets. The plant will be staffed with 20 + yrs.’ experienced management, technical and engineering teams.

In 1982 when Mr. Jain joined the company as President, VTC has emerged from a small player to a leadership position. “I came with one expectation – to lead a business,” Mr. Jain said in 1982. Under Jain’s leadership, VTC began to broaden and diversify its customer base and product line, developing new technologies and delivering high-reliability transformers with 60-year service life – the longest in the industry, claiming the market leader that it is today.
