Erik Takayesu joined SCE in 1991 and is currently the vice president of the Asset Strategy & Planning (ASP) organization at Southern California Edison (SCE). He leads business planning, electric system planning, asset management, technology, and wildfire mitigation work across Operations for the utility.
Prior to his current role, he served as vice president of Transmission, Substations and Operations. There he was responsible for all substation and transmission construction and maintenance, grid operations, compliance, and emergency response and restoration. He also held various leadership roles in engineering, operations, and grid modernization throughout his career.
Takayesu serves on the Board of Directors for several organizations, including the North American Transmission Forum, the Western Energy Institute, and Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics. He also serves on the Executive Advisory Committee for IEEE Power and Engineering Society, and is a member of the Dean’s advisory boards for Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State Long Beach.
Takayesu earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at California State University, Long Beach, and a master’s degree in organizational leadership at Gonzaga University. He is also a licensed professional engineer in the state of California.
