As Senior Vice President of Engineering at SAS, Jared Peterson leads a global, multi-faceted team dedicated to reliably delivering market-leading analytics software and solutions. He is responsible for all aspects of research and development, including project management, cloud-native design, software engineering, application security, test automation and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD). By striving for quality, craftsmanship and excellence across all disciplines, he consistently helps SAS’ customers innovate and accelerate.

Peterson has more than 20 years of experience in the software industry, with nine of those years spent at SAS. Most recently, he served as Director of Advanced Analytics, leading global Natural Language Processing teams. During this time, he contributed to many notable SAS products including SAS Visual Text Analytics and SAS Conversation Designer.

Peterson is also passionate about inspiring his workforce, with a leadership style built around his people-first mentality. He values accountability, empathy and transparent communication.

Before joining SAS, Peterson served as a developer at a handful of startup companies. He received a bachelor's degree in computer science from Auburn University.

Additionally, he is a recipient of the SAS CEO Award of Excellence and holds three patents. He is a member of the Advisory Committee for the Goodnight Scholars Program at NC State University.
