Welcome to the Center for Asbestos Related Disease (CARD)
CARD is a non-profit 501(c)3 clinic dedicated solely to asbestos related disease, particularly that caused by the Libby Amphibole found at the Superfund site in and around Libby, Montana. A local vermiculite mine, active for over 70 years, was contaminated with this amphibole asbestos. The ore was shipped by rail to over 200 processing plants around the country and then sold as insulation, which is still present in buildings nationwide. CARD is partially funded by from grants through ATSDR/CDC. Screening, ongoing care, lung cancer screening, education, outreach, and research.
