Genetic Tools, LLC, a California company, has developed a novel, super-efficient, revolutionary RTase, named as Thermophilic reverse transcriptase. The RTase uses less than one unit per reaction, 200-fold more efficient than conventional MMLV RTase. The enzyme works best at 60-62°C, thus it can easily unravel RNA secondary structures and tackle any GC-rich regions, overcoming the limitations of traditional reverse transcriptase. In addition, reliably detects single digit copies of target RNA templates due to the above properties. Particularly, this enzyme is suitable to one-step, multiplex real-time, fluorescence RT-PCR with efficient and uniform reverse transcriptions.
