Veterans Prostate Cancer Awareness (VPCa) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives through the promotion of prostate cancer awareness, education, and treatment solutions to the Veteran and active-duty military populations. There are over 9 million Veterans receiving care through the Veterans Healthcare Administration, out of those approximately 500,000 are living with prostate cancer, and over 16,000 with metastatic disease. It is also reported over 15,000 new Veterans are diagnosed each year. To address the growing prostate cancer concern, VPCa has partnered with Self Care Catalysts (SCC) to develop the Prostate Cancer Health Storylines Health IT Platform. The app s has 2 major components; 1) the patient facing Prostate Cancer Health Storylines application enabling Real World, Real-Time data collection, monitoring of patient experience data, and reported outcomes and 2) the provider facing patient monitoring, clinical decision support system, and research tool, which is integrated into the patient app enabling clinicians and researchers to gather in near real time Quality of Life, Patient Reported Outcomes, and Real-World Experience.
