Description
SESSION SURVEY
With higher data rates and faster speeds, proper installation and testing is more critical than ever before. Our experienced presenters have seen it all -- the good, the bad and the ugly. In this session, they'll review some of the top mistakes they come across in the field, addressing issues with design, installation, and testing. They will also explain proper procedures and how to avoid (or fix) these issues. Topics will include: - Cleaning and inspection mistakes, or complete lack thereof (i.e., MPOs, APC, etc.) - Not properly calculating loss budget (e.g., using typ instead of max, not accommodating for RL in short-reach SM, etc.) - Not using the right tester (e.g., non-EF compliant, no MPO support, etc.) - Channel testing instead of permanent link - Using the wrong reference cord procedure (e.g., 2-cord reference vs. 1, using BIMMF for TRC, etc.) - Improper polarity (e.g., using Type A cords on both ends for Method A, using C for parallel optics, breakouts, etc.) - Installation issues/poor cable management (e.g., exceeding bend radius, tensile load, etc.)
