Geriatric Emergency Department Collaborative
The Geriatric Emergency Department Collaborative (GEDC), supported by John A. Hartford and the West Health Foundations, transforms care, catalyzes action and evaluates best practices in emergency care for older adults. GEDC is supported by the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) and the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) to oversee the activities of a cadre of interdisciplinary faculty, 9 current GEDC sites, and 4 national organizations (ENA, SAEM, ACEP and AGS). The GEDC will conduct regional and site-specific training for emergency departments; develop online educational curriculum; and study the initiative and geriatric emergency department interventions. Additionally, ACEP will support its new Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation program, which provides a framework of best practices and a level of public assurance regarding the quality of care provided to older adults in the emergency department setting. The booth features introductory Geriatric ED materials, information on the new Geriatric ED Accreditation, and GEDC and ENA members to discuss how you may help your ED become more “Senior Friendly”.
