Description

Netflix has got TV audiences hooked on personalized content and perfect recommendations at their fingertips, so should theatre audiences expect the same? A case study of bringing the Netflix approach to regional theatre, and an insight into its successes, as well as an honest discourse about its difficulties. From end-to-end, this talk will explain why a marketing team decided to cancel their successful season brochure and replace it with individually customized recommendations for hundreds of thousands of customers, and the steps taken to build the algorithm, print tens of thousands of unique booklets, and the improvements made along the way. Full of recommendations for anyone ambitious enough to try building a recommendation algorithm themselves, and inspiration for anyone who wants to try and make their organization a little more like Netflix.
