Empowering Genealogists Through Education
Don't have Georgia ancestors? Don't worry, we still have much to offer! Established in 1965, the Georgia Genealogical Society (GGS) has more than 600 active members from around the country. GGS publishes the Georgia Genealogical Society Quarterly, hosts quarterly seminars, and offers free monthly webinars to the public as part of its mission to raise the standards of genealogical research through education. GGS is also the proud host of the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR), an annual week-long educational institute for genealogists. IGHR is for genealogists of all backgrounds, not just for individuals with Georgia or southern ancestry. It educates hobbyists and professionals alike and traditionally enrolls about 300 attendees each summer. This past summer, IGHR attendees came from 32 states and St. Kitts! IGHR 2020 will take place Sunday, 26 July - Friday, 31 July, 2020 on the University of Georgia campus in Athens, Georgia. Swing by our booth (#105) at the FGS conference to learn more about GGS and IGHR 2020’s 13 week-long courses. Be sure to enter the drawing for priority IGHR 2020 registration and follow GGS and IGHR on social media!
