The New York Genealogical and Biographical Society (NYG&B) preserves, documents, and shares family stories from across the state of New York. We engage with genealogists, biographers, historians, and organizations to establish the broader contexts of New York’s past. The NYG&B actively fosters connections between New York’s past and the present.

Our membership includes thousands of genealogists, historians, and others from across the country. A not-for-profit organization with tax exempt status, gifts to the NYG&B are tax deductible.

Our headquarters are located in New York City with a professional staff and dedicated volunteers. We are governed by a distinguished Board of Trustees who serve voluntarily and contribute generously to our mission.
