JP Sportfishing has proudly been chartering sport fishing trips for international clients since the world finally realized that Costa Rica isn’t an island. 😉
In fact, we’ve been in business since the year 1993, when the only folks who came down then were the die-hard rugged kind; the ones who wanted to get lost on a dirt road in the middle of Central America. (Actually, back then we did have a dirt road running through town; when the road flooded, no one could get south of Quepos!) Today, however, we have the gorgeous Pan-American highway that, if you keep going far enough, takes you straight into Panama. But just because you can keep going doesn’t mean that you do: today, Quepos is a world-class sport fishing destination, and the top in all of Costa Rica. We also have Marina Pez Vela, slated to be the largest marina in Central America, not to mention the prettiest views in the country.
also go out for rooster fish, tuna, mahi mahi, grouper, mackerel, and snapper. Just depends whether you want to go offshore or stay inshore—and how much fun you can handle.
You can fish with us year-round.
While Costa Rica fishing is famous during our sunny high season—November, December, January, February, March, April and May—plenty of people come to fish during low season (and for some, it’s even preferable).
Our prices are fair and honest.
We operate an intimate fleet of 34-foot sportfishing boats made durable for the sea & the sun—but also with an area for shade, a private toilet, and in some extra special cases, a walk-around bow, perfect for families or partners who want to get their suntan on…while you’re sneaking your hand in the beer cooler. (FYI: the beer’s on us—it’s free!) In other words, you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars a day to have the fishing trip of your life. And you don’t need to sacrifice quality on the ocean, either.
