Texas Parks & Wildlife Department has been actively restoring and managing desert bighorn sheep in the mountains of Far West Texas. Desert bighorn sheep currently inhabit 11 mountain ranges in Hudspeth, Culberson, Presidio and Brewster counties. Ongoing research helps TPWD make appropriate science-based management decisions. Hunting for these animals can be accomplished by applying through TPWD's Public Draw system for the Guided Bighorn Sheep Hunt and Texas Grand Slam.
