Castor River Farms sustainably produces long grain rice utilizing REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE PRACTICES. Since 1954 CRF has been committed to producing high quality food on our rich and healthy soils. With a dedication to soil health, the Hunter family has been recognized as leaders in soil conservation for three generations. CRF rice is grown, milled, packaged and shipped on the family farm near Dexter, Missouri, where our hands on approach produces a rich, healthy, quality and consistent product year after year.
CRF utilizes many techniques to constantly improve their land. COVER CROPS grow during the off season to give back to the soil what was taken during harvest. Our farm is NO TILL - means less compaction and less erosion to our most important resource - SOIL!
CRF is NO FLOOD - means our soils are allowed to function properly vs underwater for months which is harmful to soil biology and also lowers aresenic levels significantly!
CRF uses NO FUNGICIDES OR INSECTICIDES - allows beneficial insects and soil biology to flourish. We believe our farm is a complex eco system and to disrupt that with overuse of chemicals would take away from our sustainability!
