EZ pond is a clear and simple system that allows any gardener to enjoy aquatic plants. EZ pond sorts water plants into four different categories based on the crucial role they play towards a healthy water garden. By following the color-coded system on our plant tags, any gardener can easily plan a water feature and quickly enjoy the quiet beauty of a pond filled with plants.

  • Marginals are a broad category of plants that live at the edge of a pond or water feature. They need their feet in the water in order to survive. Marginal plants provide color and interest to your pond but do so much more. They contribute to the healthy balance of your pond’s eco-system by providing
food for fish and many species attract butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds.

To extend the use of these beneficial plants to all areas of the pond, we have introduced floating islands, so that marginal plants are not relegated to the side of the pond with higher ledge elevations. With the use of floating islands, you can make the marginal plants the center of attention!

To prevent disease problems, do not plant potatoes in the same bed as tomatoes. Potatoes should be rotated on a 3-year program. This means you need 3 suitable sites if you want to grow potatoes every year. To maximize your crop, keep potatoes well watered throughout the summer, but especially during the period when they are in flower and immediately thereafter. Water early in the day, allows foliage to dry completely before the evening. If you do not have the space to dig a large trench, some creative gardeners have used garbage cans or four old tires to grow potatoes with great success.
