Maryland has a strong nursery and landscaping industry because of high quality products.  Consumers and members of our green industry can tap into many services available through MDA.  https://mda.maryland.gov/Pages/default.aspx

MD law and regulations require anyone who sells, installs, or produces nursery stock to be licensed with MDA.  Visit https://mda.maryland.gov/plants-pests/Pages/nursery_inspection_plant_quarantine.aspx for applications.

MDA nursery inspectors check nursery stock, looking for plant pests and diseases. Some of these are of regulatory concern, spotted lanternfly (SLF) is our latest one.   Presently, SLF is quarantined in Cecil and Harford counties. The quarantine requires any business within those counties to have a transit permit.  Visit https://mda.maryland.gov/plants-pests/Pages/spotted-lantern-fly.aspx for more information.  Recently a small population was found in Washington County.

MDA and our partners are working to maintain and safeguard a growing green industry.
