The Chicagoland Grows®, Inc., Plant Introduction Program was established in 1986 as a partnership of the Chicago Botanic Garden, The Morton Arboretum, and the Ornamental Growers Association of Northern Illinois with the goal of selecting, evaluating, and introducing a diversity of new landscape plants to Midwestern and equivalent landscapes. From trees and shrubs, to perennials and grasses, all of our selections are well adapted for use in the upper Midwest and in comparable regions of USDA Zones 4-7. Nearly 100 nurseries are licensed with us to propagate our plant introductions. The majority of our plant introductions have been developed at Chicago Botanic Garden (perennial plants and grasses) and at The Morton Arboretum (trees and shrubs) or by other regional partners. Among our premiere introductions are the EXCLAMATION! London Planetree, STATE STREET® Miyabe Maple, ACCOLADE® Elm and TRIUMPH™ Elm, CHICAGOLAND GREEN™ Boxwood, the PRAIRIEBLUES™ false indigos (Baptisia), and more!
