  • Akrapovič has released its latest creation by adding the Racing Line (Carbon) exhaust system for the Aprilia RS 660 to its catalogue.

The Racing Line (Carbon) is a complete exhaust system that has been designed to optimize power and torque from the 660 cc parallel-twin powerplant while providing an exhilarating soundtrack and meeting the full protocols required for EC/ECE type approval, making it fully Euro 5 compliant.

Constructed from high-quality carbon fibre for the outer sleeve of the muffler, end cap, and heat shield, with a lightweight titanium outer sleeve for the pre-muffler, and with the remainder of the system made using high-grade stainless steel, the Racing Line (Carbon) exhaust system has been created using race-proven materials for Aprilia’s dynamic, middleweight sports bike. The use of lightweight materials makes the Racing Line (Carbon) system 0.4 kg lighter than the standard stock system. Intensive testing on the Akrapovič in-house dyno, with back-to-back runs of an Aprilia RS 660 equipped with a Racing Line (Carbon) exhaust and an RS 660 with the standard stock exhaust system, recorded an increase of 1.8 kW (2.4 hp) at 11,200 rpm and a gain of 3.6 Nm of torque at 4,550 rpm, all of which give the rider a pronounced throttle response, adding to the overall experience gained from an Akrapovič product.

The connection between the Akrapovič Racing Line (Carbon) and the Aprilia RS 660 is further emphasized through the soundtrack that the engineers in Slovenia have furnished the system with. Its deep, full, and sporty sound, with its throbbing parallel-twin pulsations, provides the feeling of riding a bigger capacity bike. The exhaust creates a sound from the engine more akin to the Aprilia RSV4, which fully demonstrates the lineage that the RS 660 comes from. The system has a simple plug-and-play installation with no remapping needed.

The Akrapovič Racing Line (Carbon) for the Aprilia RS 660 is the ideal exhaust for this middleweight sports bike, combining an increase in performance while meeting the latest EC/ECE type approval and providing a striking visual appearance, allied with an exciting and pulse-racing sound.

  • Akrapovič and Ducati have collaborated on two exclusive new products for the Ducati Multistrada V4 aimed at unleashing the bike’s sporty character and enhancing overall performance.

Akrapovič and Ducati is a success story that began in 2014 with a project linked to the Ducati 1199 Panigale. It continued with the creation of a series of innovative exhaust systems capable of taking the performance attitude of Ducati motorcycles to an even more extreme level. Now the two companies have worked together to design and produce components to enhance the sporty characteristics of the Multistrada V4, a bike from the Ducati range designed to dominate all roads. This is a machine that combines performance and sportiness with unprecedented ride comfort and versatility of use, allowing the bike to be effective in all riding conditions.

The two partners have created exhaust systems that work across the full spectrum of the Multistrada V4’s operating modes. The “Sport” mode takes advantage of lightness and compactness, electronic MotoGP aids, and a chassis with agile dimensions for an exciting and effective ride in mixed terrain. Its “Touring” mode relies on the impressive maintenance intervals set every 60,000 km, the great attention paid to rider comfort in the development phase, with Radar systems, a map navigator that can be viewed on the dashboard, and cornering lights. The “Enduro” mode utilizes excellent off-road handling, electronic suspension, smooth power delivery, and gear ratios. Finally, there is its “Urban” mode, where the bike guarantees great ease of use at low speeds, smartphone connectivity, and the careful study of thermal comfort, all aimed at the city lifestyle. The Ducati Multistrada V4 really is a bike for all seasons, all terrains, and all-round performance, which has resulted in Akrapovič and Ducati producing two co-branded accessories: a racing-derived exhaust and an EC/ECE-type approved system. Both components are dedicated exclusively to this model and have a unique design that fits perfectly with the motorcycle.

The racing exhaust unit is made of stainless steel and is equipped with a muffler constructed using a titanium outer sleeve and a hand-made carbon-fibre end cap for a combination of lightness and design that integrates perfectly with the lines of the new Multistrada V4. The materials are combined with the supplied dedicated mapping, which adjusts all the electronic parameters of the bike to the new performance. By mounting the Akrapovič racing exhaust, maximum torque reaches 133 Nm, and maximum power reaches 174 hp. Due to Akrapovič’s expertise in the world of lightweight performance exhaust systems, the Multistrada V4 is also 5 kg lighter.

The EC/ECE type-approved exhaust made by Akrapovič and Ducati for the Multistrada V4 gives the bike a more aggressive character. The body is built using a specially developed high-grade titanium alloy, with a carbon-fibre end cap, guaranteeing lightness and resistance to high temperatures. Combined with the honeycomb mesh in the end cap, it provides a truly unmistakable racing look. The Multistrada V4 S Sport is fitted with this Akrapovič accessory as standard, and with the use of the EC/ECE type-approved muffler – which is 0.7 kg lighter than the standard Multistrada V4 exhaust – the power-to-weight ratio of the bike improves further.

The racing exhaust and the EC/ECE type-approved system can be purchased from all Ducati dealers and on the Ducati website. At Ducati.com there is also a section dedicated to the configurator, where customers can view the accessories mounted on various models of the Multistrada V4.

  • When Colin Edwards crossed the line in eighth place at Brands Hatch in England on 15 October 2000, he marked a very important moment in the history of Akrapovič. The eight points he acquired in that race was enough to see him crowned World Superbike Champion – his first world title – and secured Akrapovič its inaugural world championship title. Later that same day, Edwards took victory in the second race to round off a momentous day and season for himself and Akrapovič.

Racing was always in the DNA of Akrapovič, and founder Igor Akrapovič was a keen and talented racer before turning his hand to making performance exhausts. This lineage was brought to fruition on a wet autumn day as Edwards, on board his Akrapovič-equipped Castrol Honda VTR1000SP1, gave the Slovenian company its first taste of world title success.

From that day on, things would never be quite the same at Ivančna Gorica, as Akrapovič sought more success in its unbridled desire to produce the best exhausts in the world – not just for motorcycles, but also for cars, and just as importantly not only for the racing world, but for the commercial environment as well. Edwards repeated his feat in 2002 – again with Castrol Honda – when he used the technical expertise provided by Akrapovič to win the last nine races of the season and score an incredible twenty-five podiums in twenty-six races. This set a season points record that would stand until another Akrapovič-equipped motorcycle, this time in the hands of Jonathan Rea of Kawasaki Racing Team, took the record in 2017. Since this first world title for Akrapovič, the company has added another 131 world championships to its collection in both the two- and four-wheel worlds, with titles in both on- and off-road disciplines.

In 2018 Edwards was honoured as Akrapovič’s first two-wheel brand ambassador, not only due to his history-making campaign in 2000, but also because of his relationship with Akrapovič in his racing career in both MotoGP and WorldSBK. Edwards used Akrapovič exhausts in his WorldSBK championship seasons and also raced for various manufacturers in MotoGP – most of which used Akrapovič exhaust systems. The American also took Akrapovič to the top step of the prestigious Suzuka 8 hours on two occasions on an Akrapovič-equipped Honda, and he continued to race with Akrapovič until he retired from the pinnacle of the sport in 2014. His input, commitment, and knowledge of Akrapovič on different machinery in varying disciplines are second to none. He is still heavily involved with Akrapovič through his brand ambassador role and his very own Texas Tornado Boot Camp, where he uses Yamaha off-road bikes with Akrapovič exhaust systems. This constant involvement and success with the brand further cements the bond between Akrapovič and Edwards – the FIRST Akrapovič world champion!

To celebrate this momentous occasion and 20 years of world championship success, Akrapovič has produced an exclusive film with in-depth interviews featuring Edwards and Igor Akrapovič. They describe the first taste of world title success shared by Edwards and the Akrapovič company, and what was needed to achieve that feat. Just click here to view this special video and to hear and see Akrapovič and Edwards share their thoughts on 20 years of history.

    Colin Edwards:

“To be the first Akrapovič world champion is a great privilege and one that can never be taken away. The company’s got a great tradition for champions now, with some very big names, so it’s humbling to know I was number one. The work that Akrapovič and Honda put into securing those two championships was immense; we had dozens of updates because the guys in the racing department worked around the clock to get us the performance we needed. It was in no small part thanks to them that we took the titles because the exhaust was an important component, among many, to make everything come together. Akrapovič has always been a great company to work with, and I continue to use its exhausts at my Boot Camp because they’re simply the best – the attention to detail and innovative ideas are second to none. I’ve used Akrapovič throughout most of my racing career in Superbike and MotoGP; I’ve also had the honour of winning two Suzuka 8 Hours, the first in 2001 with Valentino Rossi, and then in 2002 partnering with Daijiro Kato on machinery with exhausts from Akrapovič. These were great moments for me with a top-notch company, and then to be named its first two-wheel brand ambassador was a very big deal for me and one that I take seriously. The 2000 title was my first and the first for Akrapovič, and I can’t think of a better group of people to have shared it with!”

  • Tailor-made to fit the limited space available within the motorcycle, this system combines performance and durability for extreme conditions and the rigors of off-road racing.

Constructed from lightweight, high-grade, premium titanium alloys, with different thickness in the sections to ensure perfect protection and to reduce overall weight, the system is 26.5% lighter than the stock exhaust. A new profiled surface influences the sound to meet the FIM noise limits for competition, and it adds strength and durability to the muffler while delivering a deep, full sound that embraces the balanced pulse of the single-cylinder engine.

The muffler is the largest possible for the space available. This allows increased sound silencing, which mitigates the impact on the natural environment while also facilitating improved flow for the exhaust gases to make their way from the combustion chamber with as few restrictions as possible. The added strength created by the design aids durability and provides enhanced resilience in the most demanding conditions. It offers a heightened response through the entire rev range and an optimum feeling when the throttle is opened, giving the rider great appreciation of control. Power and torque levels have been increased with an extra 2.1 kW (2.8 HP) at 9,750 rpm and 1.8 Nm at 9,460 rpm being recorded on the in-house dyno in back-to-back tests with a standard stock exhaust system.

The Evolution Line (Titanium) exhaust has a special technique for imprinting the logo on the surface for greater durability and a titanium header with an integrated resonance chamber for optimum performance and sound, which is covered with a newly designed titanium heat shield. It is a simple plug-and-play operation to install, with no remapping needed.

FOR CLOSED COURSE COMPETITION USE ONLY. NOT INTENDED FOR STREET USE.
