  • Foodservice Equipment & Supplies Launches 6th Annual Kitchen Storage Makeover Contest
U.S.-based foodservice operators can win up to $50,000 worth of Metro storage solutions for their back-of-house storage needs

Elmhurst, Ill., November 1, 2022: One lucky foodservice operation will receive a storage and productivity assessment and makeover — and $50,000 in storage solution products — through Foodservice Equipment & Supplies (FE&S) Kitchen Storage Makeover Contest.

    Submissions must include:

    • At least 10 pictures (smartphone pics fine) of the operation’s storage areas in need of help, or operators can create a video (under 5 minutes) walking judges through the support areas most in need of help
    • Up to 400-word overview of the school’s current approach to foodservice and how many students are served daily

Entries must be submitted at FESmag.com/ksm between November 1 and February 28.

“We are thrilled to facilitate this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a back of the house storage make-over from Metro,” says Maureen Slocum, publisher of FE&S magazine. “The transformation will certainly support any foodservice team. Every previous winner of this contest has commented on how impactful the makeover has been to workflow, productivity and overall staff morale in the kitchen space. We cannot wait to see this same magic happen for a fifth consecutive year.”

A panel of judges chosen by FE&S will select the winner. Following an on-site assessment of the space, the Metro team will select specific storage components, which may include shelving, workstations, wall-shelving, worktables, custom configurations, track systems and more – courtesy of Metro. The winner’s transformation story appears in FE&S magazine.

“These past few have brought many challenges and this contest is ready to help one struggling operation improve their workflow and adapt to the new norm,” says AJ Zambetti, Director of Creative & Brand Communications at Metro. “Commercial kitchens are often required to support an immense volume, often times over the originally designed plans. Making that space more productive is what we do best, and we take great pride in providing this service to the winner.”

The 2023 Kitchen Storage Makeover Contest marks the sixth annual event. Prior winners represent a range of foodservice segments, including hotel and event foodservice (Fort William Henry Hotel & Conference Center), a community center with a preschool (the Jewish Community Center of Greater Columbus), a commercial restaurant (YNOT Italian), a behavioral treatment facility and K-12 school (Harborcreek Youth Services), and a rural elementary school (Flanagan-Cornell Unit 74).
