STATEMENT FROM NAHC PRESIDENT BILL DOMBI REGARDING THE ANNUAL MEETING IN NEW ORLEANS
September 7, 2021

It is with deep disappointment that we announce the cancellation of the NAHC Annual Meeting that had been scheduled to be held in New Orleans from October 2-5.  We had all been looking forward to enjoying the high quality, expert programs that had been planned by faculty across the country. The annual exposition was expected to reach new heights with increased numbers of exhibitors, enhanced with expanded networking and educational opportunities. Our keynote presentations would have left attendees inspired. All of this was on the agenda for one of the greatest cities in the world, New Orleans.

After intense deliberations, exploring all options to continue the event, the devastation caused by Hurricane Ida along with the continuing surge of Covid-19 infections that has stressed the health care system in New Orleans to a near breaking point makes it impossible for us to move forward with the long-planned event. We simply cannot provide assurances that we and New Orleans could deliver a NAHC-quality, safe conference. Power is still out in many parts of the city. Access to all our partners needed to make the event happen has been severely compromised. A date certain for full operations throughout the city is unknown.

We recognize that you share our disappointment. The past 18 months have been beyond difficult for all of us and we all hoped we could experience a bit or return to normalcy in our lives. The energy and enthusiasm that we have for our common mission of health care in the home has been annually renewed at this special event. Old friendships are strengthened, new ones take hold. Our lives, professionally and personally, are enriched by our gathering together.

We promise that we will find our way to New Orleans in the future. In the meantime, stay tuned for details on how and when we will provide the expert programs that over 120 faculty had created for you.

Stay strong!

Bill
