Established racial disparities and discrimination have long been part of America’s health care system from birth to death. Research further indicates that U.S. racial and ethnic minorities are less likely to receive even routine medical procedures and experience a lower quality of health services. Even at the end of life, racial disparities persist. Significantly fewer African Americans, Asians, and Latinos enrolled in hospice compared to Anglo-Americans. Without adequate training and education within home care and hospice, statistics of the fragile, minority, elderly will continue to fill U.S. hospitals with the most expensive form of end-of-life care. Options to serve the underserved people groups in America should be, and could be, lead by our own industry. This session is sponsored by Marrelli & AssociatesRead More

The COVID-19 pandemic and major social movements like #BLM and #MeToo have played a transformative role in driving conversations and action around diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). For businesses, this conversation has reached every organizational level and is - rightfully so - a permanent item on every board’s agenda. While organizations commit to correcting imbalances in the workplace, they’re often met with significant challenges. What’s missing is the critical connection point between monitoring DEI metrics and using that data to improve the effectiveness of DEI programs to create lasting, meaningful change.
