Dr. Byon’s research has focused on preventing workplace violence and improving incident reporting in the home healthcare field. Dr. Byon successfully conducted several studies as the principal investigator. He employs both quantitative and qualitative research methods in his research. He teaches undergraduate and graduate nursing courses in statistics, research methods, and quality improvement, and was a clinical preceptor for community health practicum. He was formerly a home-visiting community health nurse for low-income, elderly residents in New York City. He is currently an assistant professor at the University of Virginia School of Nursing.
