For over 32 years, Susan Ponder-Stansel, LCSW, has been a visionary leader and pioneer in the field of advanced illness and hospice care. Susan was recently appointed to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of Alivia Care, Inc., the non-profit parent of Community Hospice and Palliative Care. Alivia’s mission is to create transformative care solutions for those living with serious or advanced illness that meet the needs of patients, providers, and communities. Prior to this appointment, Susan served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Community Hospice & Palliative Care for 31 years. Founded in 1979, Community is based in Jacksonville, Florida and its nearly 1,000-person staff serves an average of 1,300 patients each day in 16 counties throughout North Florida.
Susan is a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW), a Qualified Clinical Social Worker (QCSW), and a board-certified Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Florida. She also holds certification as an Advanced Certified Hospice Executive (ACHE). She has received multiple awards and recognition for her leadership and advocacy work, and has received multiple honors for outstanding community service.
Susan serves on many healthcare related boards and councils at a national, State, and regional level, and is active on the boards of several non-profits that serve the North Florida community. She speaks, writes, and consults on hospice, end of life care, and care for the elderly.
