James F. Sallis, PhD, is Distinguished Professor of Family and Preventive Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, and Co-Director of the Physical Activity Research Center. His primary research interests are promoting physical activity and understanding policy and environmental influences on physical activity, nutrition, and obesity. He studies how a multiple environments, including parks, trails, streets, and neighborhood design, help shape physical activity and related health outcomes. He has co-authored over 700 publications.
