An architectural historian and historic preservation specialist for more than 30 years, Ms. Hughes work focuses on preservation strategies, design review, and compliance with local, state, and Federal laws, as well as historic architecture and landscape interpretation. She has ensured that historic preservation is a successful component of numerous Master Planning efforts including the St. Elizabeths East Campus Master Plan. Her work over the last ten years with historic landscapes and historic parks has resulted in the careful rehabilitation and interpretation of numerous historic resources. The firm’s current efforts at the Hanson Lee House in Loudoun County, Virginia have resulted in the preservation and appropriate rehabilitation of this important house as part of a larger park construction project.
