With 10 years of academic and professional experience, Leslie Lilly has extensive knowledge of native Texas plants, Texas ecosystems and sustainable landscape design. She received a BA from Reed College in Botany and worked on her masters at the University of Texas, focusing on invasive plant species and fire ecology. Following school, Leslie worked for US Fish and Wildlife as a GIS analyst and wildland firefighter, managed JBG Farms, a 200-acre organic vegetable farm, and founded a landscape design company which designed and installed water-wise, native Texas landscapes. As the urban ecologist for The Trail Foundation, Leslie oversees and implements all of the ecological restoration programs and projects for the 199-acre Town Lake Metro Park in central Austin. This work includes developing project and work scopes, managing and building the GIS data for all ecological work, overseeing crews of contractors, employees and volunteers, and working with city partners to align priorities in land management goals. She is also a proud Texas Master Naturalist.
