Profile

Latisha is presently employed with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Office of Water. In her position as a Senior Scientist she manages the Water Laboratory Alliance Program. The alliance represents a nationwide coordinated network of laboratories capable of responding to drinking water contamination events. Under her leadership the alliance conducted EPA’s largest full scale laboratory exercise which involved over 32 states and 5 federal agencies. Prior to this position she was the Acting Director, of the Program Implementation and Coordination Division where she was responsible for overseeing the integration of national programs which protect children’s environmental health.

Latisha also managed the development of science policy for EPA’s Superfund Program. In addition, she worked for EPA's Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Relations and Office of Science and Technology. In the Office of Science and Technology, she collaborated with numerous stakeholders concerning issues under both the Safe Drinking Water Act and the Clean Water Act. She also co-authored EPA’s Microbial Strategy; a multi-year strategy for protecting drinking waters from bacterial and viral contamination. Afterwards, she initiated and led the Agency's Cross- Indicators Team which served as the managing body for microbial indicator assessments, evaluations, and method development.

Latisha earned a Masters and Bachelors degree in Biology/Microbiology from Virginia State University. She also earned a Masters in Business Administration from Marymount University and completed post-graduate studies in Environmental Science and Public Policy at George Mason University.

She enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering with the Washington Humane Society.
