Speaker(s)
Description
Paul Haddad from the University of Tasmania, Australia, is the 2021 LCGC Lifetime Achievement in Chromatography Award winner. Paul Haddad is an Emeritus Distinguished Professor at the University of Tasmania, Australia, and was the foundation Director of the Australian Centre for Research on Separation Science (ACROSS). He is best known for his research on the theory, mechanism and applications of ion chromatography, and computerized approaches to method development.
Erik L. Regalado from Merck & Co., Inc. is the 2021 LCGC Emerging Leader in Chromatography Award winner. Erik L. Regalado is a Principal Scientist in AR&D at Merck Research Laboratories where he leads the Method Screening and Purifications group. His research focuses on analytical and preparative enabling technologies that accelerate development of new pharmaceuticals, including automated method screenings, multidimensional chromatography, high-throughput analysis, and ultrafast and computer-assisted separations.

- Friday, March 12, 8:40 AM - 9:15 AM
The pharmaceutical industry relies on HPLC through all stages of drug development, from drug discovery to manufacture. Most commonly, bench-scale HPLC instruments are used, usually located in dedicated analytical laboratories, meaning that samples need to be transferred from the work site. There is therefore considerable potential for the development and...

The majority of materials for chromatographic applications are silica-based, due largely to the excellent mechanical properties and well established protocols for synthesis and chemical modification. There remains a number of chromatographic modes and applications where polymer-based materials offer superior performance. This presentation will focus primarily on polymer-based monolithic materials for...

Analyses by liquid chromatography (LC) critically depend on good methods and developing these is the hallmark of good chromatographers. For at least 40 years – or slightly shorter for youngish researchers [1] – the systematic development of LC methods has been an active area of research. Such efforts may be...
