Description

The United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) has a long history of investigating per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in food (milk, fish and cranberries) and food packaging (popcorn bags and cookware) with results published in several peer-reviewed journals. Recently the US FDA has developed methods for total diet study samples and has been working with states and other stakeholders on sample analysis. The US FDA is currently assisting states with validating methods. This talk will discuss past and current research and analytical challenges associated with the investigation of PFAS in foods and packaging as well as a discussion on the need for future interlaboratory studies.
