Protecting the safety of all those who travel and work on railway systems worldwide, the IRSE is the professional institution for those in railway signaling and telecommunications, train control, traffic management and allied professions. The Institution, headquartered in London, UK, was formed in 1912 and is active worldwide with 50% of its membership outside the UK. The IRSE aims to advance the science and practice of train control and communications engineering and to maintain high standards of knowledge and competence within the profession.
