We look forward to connecting & telling the short line story

ASLRRA, founded in 1913, proudly represents the entrepreneurial owners and operators of 600 short line and regional railroads throughout North America in legislative and regulatory matters. These railroads operate 50,000 miles of track in 49 states or approximately 38% of the national railroad network.  In 15 states they operate at least 50% of the state’s rail network and in 35 states they operate at least 25% of the state’s rail network.

Short lines touch in origination or termination one out of every four cars moving on the national railroad system.  For large areas of rural and small town America short line and regional railroads are the only way shippers can stay connected to the national railroad network, helping businesses and employment remain local.

These small businesses play a vital role in the hub-and-spoke transportation network, often providing the first-mile/last-mile connection between farmers and manufacturers and the ultimate consumer. In addition to its railroad members, ASLRRA has 480 railroad supply company members who are full participants in the Association’s activities.

ASLRRA serves its membership through results-oriented representation in Washington, D.C., and delivers a wide range of industry services and professional development opportunities including publications, webinars, training, meetings and conferences.
