The GURU® line of freeze protection valves are the North American standard in locomotive cooling system protection. Requiring no power or air, they sense the water temperature of the locomotive cooling system and will drain it before temperatures reach freezing. Our GURU® PC valve use the same reliable technology to protect passenger cars from freeze damage when car heat is turned off. These valves are self-contained and drain water-bearing systems automatically by monitoring ambient temperatures. They are completely mechanical and require no power to operate however an electric heater is available to expedite the refilling process after a dump. The heater assembly is connected to available electric power to prevent draining when car heat is functioning normally. The heater quickly closes the valve for refilling after a drain and restoration of car power.
The GURU PC valves and heaters are NSF 61/372 certification by a 3rd party Truesdail Laboratories and Shock & Vibration tested to IEC 61373:2010 and EP061515-1, Section 3 by Delserro Engineering Solutions, Inc.
