Our African antelope, the bulk of which is springbok, is locally and sustainably sourced, supporting the South African game meat industry and contributing to our dream of rewilding the Karoo.
Every pack of Karoo Wild bought bolsters local farmers and contributes to the thriving and sustainable management of springbok and other African antelope herds.
Game farming in the Karoo has a rich history tied to the region’s agricultural practices, where farmers diversified their livestock with sheep, goats and various game species, notably springbok. This approach was not only environmentally sustainable but also economically beneficial. However, the landscape of Karoo game farming underwent a drastic change with the imposition of an export ban on antelope meat in 2011, leading to a catastrophic near collapse of the South African game meat industry.
Located in Graaff-Reinet, a town in the Karoo, Montego Pet Nutrition aims to become instrumental in revitalising the Karoo’s game meat industry following the export bans.
