This spirited team of five entreprenuHERS started creating Luca's Organic Dog Treat Nummers™ when they were 10-years-old during Art Camp in 2017. Emery, Elli, Kate, Lauren and Rylie wanted to start a business and do something good for dogs and their owners. The girls created organic dog treats using local ingredients that are high in protein, human grade and organic to promote longevity of dogs. The team started selling on the neighborhood sidewalks and fast forward to today, they are being represented by Lipari Food who distribute their products in 27 states and sell wholesale and retail online. L&TFG have been featured on WCCO/CBS and KSTP TV, Minneapolis Star & Tribune newspaper, StartMN nd most recently, Edina Magazine Luca & the Five Girls Serves up Organic Dog Treats - Edina Magazine They have participated in General Mills National Women in Supply Chain event.
Every step, every decision has been imaginative and creative during the entire journey - packaging design, marketing, sales, accounting, shipping and manufacturing which is outsourced to a local bakery. What started out as a summer art camp idea has evolved into a fantastical adventure. They are coachable and thirsty for knowledge.
Not only are these girls growing their business by expanding their reach through a national distributor, two wholesale and one retail online site, but they are also very active in their community. As five 17-year-old high schoolers preparing for their senior year, they are busy maintaining a collective GPA of 3.8 and they have received 12 letters for their athletic and service achievements . They still find time to volunteer as student athletic coaches and camp staff. Serving the community is very much a part of their business too, they donate to Animal Humane Society, Kids Run for Justice, Opportunity Partners, Como Zoo, Hennepin Healthcare Pediatric Music Therapy and People & Pets Together Animal Food Shelf.
Elli, Emery, Kate, Lauren and Rylie have so many supporters – their local organic farmers, distributors, bankers, insurance agents, attorneys, accountants, designers, bakers, , wholesale buyers, their customers and their dogs located throughout the US to name a few.
