Alaska Wilderness Enterprises was founded in 1982 by Alaska Master Guide and licensed Arizona Registered Guide, Joe Letarte and his wife and business partner, Victoria Letarte, an Alaska Assistant Guide. Through their experience of over thirty-five years in the Brooks Range, Southeast Alaska, the Aleutian islands, the Alaska Range and the Yukon River Valley, where they operate their big game hunting and sport fishing business, they have acquired a thorough knowledge of the wilderness of Alaska. Joe's extensive professional hunting experience and his Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician training qualifies him as an outdoor survival expert and makes him one of the most highly sought after guides in North America. He is also an accomplished seminar speaker on subjects such as Dall sheep, Moose, Brown and Grizzly bear hunting. Joe and Victoria have led hundreds of hunters and anglers on safe and successful hunting and fishing trips and have guided countless rafters and scenic float clients on the beautiful rivers of Alaska.
