Razorbill Instruments produces compact, cryogenic, uniaxial pressure cells. These devices allow researchers to tune the electronic properties of their samples by applying controlled, uniaxial pressures (stresses and strains), at cryogenic temperature. A wide range of samples, such as crystalline ceramic superconductors, topological insulators, semiconducting heterostructures and 2D materials can have their unique electrical and optical properties strained to tune to new electronic phases revealing exotic electronic and optical phenomena. Such uniaxial 'strain tuning' is valuable technique that complements resistivity, AC magnetic susceptibility, NMR, inelastic x-ray scattering, neutron diffraction, scanning probe microscopy, SQUID measurements, Raman, thermal transport, and many other experimental probes.
