The AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowships is the premier professional development and public service opportunity for outstanding doctoral-level scientists, public health professionals and doctors to learn first-hand about policymaking, bring public health expertise to address societal challenges, and enhance their careers.

Fellows serve yearlong assignments in all three branches of the federal government in Washington D.C. and represent a broad range of backgrounds, disciplines and career stages. Fellow contributions can include global health, One Health, supporting healthy communities, and health research. Gain hands-on policy experience, help develop and execute solutions to address societal challenges, and join a strong corps of more than 3,800 policy-savvy alumni fellows working across sectors to serve the nation and citizens around the world.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctoral-level degree (PhD, MD, DVM, DSc, etc.) in any scientific, social science, or engineering discipline.
  • Master’s in engineering with three years of full-time, professional engineering experience.
  • U.S. citizenship (or dual citizenship).

STIPEND & BENEFITS

  • $83,000–115,000.
  • Health insurance
  • Travel/training and relocation allowances.

    ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIPS

    The AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowships (STPF) is the premier professional development and public service opportunity for doctoral-level scientists and engineers. Fellows come from a range of backgrounds, career stages and disciplines including physics, chemistry, engineering and more. Fellows learn first-hand about policymaking during yearlong assignments in the federal government in Washington, D.C.

    STPF is seeking candidates with strong STEM credentials, an interest in career transformation and a desire to enhance federal policy. Fellow contributions may include policy research, drafting briefings and reports, and implementing policies to enhance reproducibility of research through rigor and transparency. Gain hands-on policy experience, help develop and execute solutions to address societal challenges, and join a strong corps of more than 3,400 policy-savvy alumni fellows.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Doctoral-level degree (PhD, MD, DVM, DSc, etc.) in any scientific or engineering discipline.
    Master’s in engineering with three years of professional engineering experience.
