The University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHealth) School of Public Health is a community of passion-driven researchers, educators, students, and advocates who hold ourselves accountable to a single vision: Health without boundaries.
How do we achieve this vision? Through collaboration, leadership, transformation and diversification.
With six different campuses across Texas, we’re at an advantage. From our Houston campus located in the heart of the world’s medical center, to our San Antonio campus’ proximity to the Brooke Army Medical Base, our school fosters a state-wide network with key communities and organizations to help students advance their careers and make a difference in the world of public health.
To make a difference in the healthcare industry, you need to be a leader. A recent study named our school of one of the nation’s top universities responsible for training the bulk of today’s public health academic leaders. Our MPH in Healthcare Management program is one of five in the country accredited by the Commission on Accreditation Healthcare Management Education (CAHME). We consistently rank as one of the top public schools of public health for NIH funding and we are one of the most financially accessible institutions in the state of Texas.
Populations change. So should the policies and programs that keep them healthy. To ignore the fact that communities look different than they did twenty years ago prevents marginalized populations from achieving health equity. We are actively investing our time, effort and resources, through our centers, in identifying, challenging, improving—and when necessary—the complete rebuilding of programs and systems that do not serve us all.
No two communities are the exact same. It’s time to elevate the voices that understand that. Regardless of gender identity, sex, age, race or ethnicity, everyone has the right to live a healthy life. How do we ensure that right? By committing to representation, equity, and accountability in our school, the continuum of health, and our communities and by learning from and working to better reflect the immense cultural diversity represented in Texas.
