  • GOT THIS! is the brainchild of Dr. Cío Hernández, a licensed clinical counselor and marriage family therapist. She specializes in reaching goals, treating test anxiety, relieving stress, building healthy relationships, healing childhood and medical trauma, addressing adolescent sexual assault, preventing family violence, and more.

When Cio was young, she always thought she would become a physician, so she studied medicine thinking that would be her future. Then she hit a major stumbling block: she was deathly afraid of taking the medical school exam. She was so paralyzed that she decided to get a Masters in Counseling Psychology first, thinking she would still apply to medical school later. Over time she discovered that she loved psychology and helping people learn about themselves, believe in their powers, and reach new heights.

Her son was a tiny baby as she studied for the licensing exams, so she had to be very efficient in how she approached the test. She knew her stuff because she studied hard, but what she found was that she had to make a new relationship with the test. Over the last 20 years, she has been able to help others make new relationships with their academic tests as well as their other goals.

She designed a basic version of the GOT THIS! app in 2011. She tested it for her doctoral research in Health Care Leadership to see if it could be used individually at the same time by all students in an Algebra class. The study showed that students were able to reduce test anxiety using the app in just one minute. That’s when she knew she needed to develop the GOT THIS! app in order to help people treat test anxiety and accomplish their goals. The early version of the app launched on her website and was available to the general public in 2013, and many have used the site for years for everything from preparing for a meeting, helping with monkey mind chatter, boosting excitement, addressing painful memories, or building a new version of themselves.

Cio has always been a community bridge builder and philanthropist at heart. She believes we need to level the playing field of coping techniques by making apps and resources available to everyone. The free version of the GOT THIS! app is an effort to give tools to those who may not otherwise be able to afford it, particularly students in low-income areas. GOT THIS! is committed to offering the app to schools with the most need in an effort to help shrink the achievement gap and more equitably resource hidden potential of our youth. By investing in yourself using the GOT THIS! app, you will also provide GOT THIS! to those in need.
