Welcome to APHA 2021 from the Georgia Health Policy Center!

The Georgia Health Policy Center (GHPC), housed within Georgia State University''s Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, was established in1995. GHPC provides evidence-based research, program development, and policy guidance to address the complex issues facing health and health care today. The center conducts qualitative and quantitative analysis to connect decision makers with the objective research and guidance needed to make informed decisions about health policy and programs. GHPC works locally, statewide, and nationally to improve health status at the community level.

We are proud of our over 25 years of service and this year, our work continues as we provide resources and information on COVID-19, study disparities illuminated by the pandemic, and find ways to improve health equity.

 Press Releases

  • The Georgia Health Policy Center is proud to announce the launch of its latest book, Aligning Systems for Health: Two Years of Learning.

Our goal has always been to draw learning from both practice and research and this book does just that. If you are a catalyst, community member, funder, practitioner, or researcher looking to understand how people and organizations across health care, public health, and social services sectors can work together in new and sustainable ways to advance health and well-being, this book has insights for you.

While there is no universal best way to partner and implement ambitious, community-driven plans, there are practical learnings and evidence-informed approaches to align diverse partners who have a common goal of improving health, equity, and well-being.

    Our learnings show:

The core components — shared purpose, finance, data, and governance — remain central to the success of health-oriented, cross-sector collaboration.
Sixteen on-the-ground profiles from around the country offer key lessons learned and examples on diverse approaches to developing these core components.
Equity and community voice are integral at all points of aligning — not just as an endpoint.
Changes in mindsets, practices, and policies that support the more distal outcomes can be measured and evaluated along the way.

The Aligning Systems for Health team is available to speak to you or your organization about the book, our evolving learnings, and opportunities for the next phase of research. Get your copy of the book today.
