Welcome to the OMHHE booth, We look forward to meeting you!

The FDA Office of Minority Health and Health Equity serves to promote and protect the health of diverse populations through research and communication of science that addresses health disparities. We work to Create a world where health equity is a reality for all. We do this by increasing the amount of clinical trial data available on racial and ethnic minorities; strengthening FDA's ability to respond to minorities health concerns; promoting health and safety communication in other languages.

Skin Facts! What you need to know about skin lightening products is FDA OMHHEs newest initiative to alert consumers about the dangers of using skin products that contain hydroquinone or mercury....

  • The FDA’s Skin Facts! Initiative alerts consumers of potentially harmful over-the-counter (OTC) skin products containing hydroquinone or mercury. These products are sometimes called skin lightening products and are not FDA approved for over-the-counter sale.

OMHHE created the Skin Facts! Initiative, which includes educational materials and other communications, to help consumers understand the potential risks of using these products and to help identify whether the skin products they purchase contain these harmful ingredients.

Watch our Skin Facts! videos in multiple languages on the FDA YouTube Channel.
